OUR HISTORY

Structural Prestressed Industries, Inc. (SPI) is a recognized leader in the design, manufacturing, and installation of precast/prestressed concrete systems. The company proudly continues the legacy established by its founder, Emilio R. Vega, who founded the company in 1996.

Building upon the original Prestressed Systems, Inc. system—first developed in 1965 and also owned by our founder, and recognized for pioneering the prestressed concrete joist system—SPI carries forward decades of proven engineering and innovation. Today, the company remains committed to delivering high-quality, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective structural solutions to the construction industry.

 SPI specializes in advanced structural solutions that combine precast/prestressed concrete tensile components with cast-in-place concrete, creating efficient composite systems. This approach merges the long-span advantages of prestressed concrete with the strength and continuity of cast-in-place concrete, resulting in lightweight, economical, and high-performance structural systems. Over the years, SPI has expanded its capabilities to include a wide range of precast/prestressed concrete products, such as hollow-core slabs, double tees, columns, inverted tee beams, landings, keystone joists, and soffit beams. These systems are designed to maximize efficiency, accelerate construction schedules, and deliver consistent quality, making them an ideal solution for modern, large-scale construction projects.

 Understanding that efficiency in construction is key, SPI not only manufactures its products but also provides full installation services. All our systems allow for rapid project progression.

OUR SYSTEM

One of the many benefits the prestressed system offers is the long spans combined with poured-in-place concrete decks that provide a compressive component as monolithic unit that is light weight, efficient, economical and reduces shoring requirements during construction. In addition, the system creates the flexibility of cast-in-place concrete construction while providing a 2 hour fire rating when used with a 4 ¾” concrete composite topping.
